FORTINET NSE 4
On September 2 2019, I wrote the Fortinet NSE 4 Exam. This is the most expensive certification exam i have done so far at USD400. It also was the most challenging as far as the prep. The company I currently work for, is a Fortinet partner so we get free virtual training online but I found that the training lacked interaction, being mainly videos with someone reading. There were labs offered but these need to be booked way in advance and were only available once the training was complete.
For training resources I used the online training as well as the practice tests included by Fortinet. While allot of the content on the training was not new to me, the practice tests helped to point out my deficiencies so I could focus my studies there. I also found the fortidocs really useful at explaining concepts (sometimes even better than what was provided in the training).
My final and most important resource was GNS3. While I did have major problems getting this setup. It was well worth the trouble as it allowed me to lab up the stuff I was learning. I will probably write about setting this up some time in the future.
What’s Next?
I am currently working on my Cisco Sales Certification. This is part of my work requirements as a partner and is helping me understand allot more about the CISCO eco-system and direction that the company as whole is going.
I have also recognized that I have no Microsoft Certs and have chosen to pursue the MS-900 Microsoft 365 Fundamentals. It seems pretty basic but deals with an introduction to the Microsoft 365 platform.
